IN MEMORIAM

Anne Wakeman Lang was born in Pontiac, MI on May 29, 1955. She passed away at about 5:30pm CDT on July 6, 2015. She was in the St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge. Tom and Amy were with her for most of her final hours.

Anne grew up in Birmingham, MI, daughter to Walt and Jean Wakeman. She attended Birmingham Seaholm High School, where she was a majorette with the marching band. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO for 2 years and transferred to Michigan State University, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism. She started out as a newspaper reporter in Michigan and Minnesota. After moving to Texas she was editor of the Texas Thoroughbred magazine for 8 years and she was the first female columnist for the Daily Racing Form. After the birth of her first daughter, she began freelancing for several national magazines – including the Chronicle of the Horse, but primarily People Magazine. A broad sampling of Anne’s published work, including several national awards, can be found at http://annelang.net.

Anne is survived by her husband Tom Lang, whom she married in 1978; daughters Amy and Megan; and brothers Bob and John Wakeman.

Anne has asked that in lieu of flowers, or charitable donations of any kind, that instead her friends and family commit to being screened for any and all types of cancer at the appropriate time of life.

Anne has also asked that anyone who wishes to leave messages for the family may do so at https://annelang.wordpress.com.
